Balanced Work/Life

Finding a work and life balance

I've often heard and seen quotes stating that "the people who will miss you most when you are gone are your family", your work will replace you in an instant.

I hope this is not the case for you. If you are not doing a work that you really like, then I think you just have a job. I like what the other quote would often say, "love your work and you will work no longer" or something in that effect. Where is the balance there? First you have a magnificent life by doing what you want to do, finding out what this is is where the balance lies.

Nigel Marsh in Ted Talk puts it nicely in the video below.

The Real Estate Investment Show

The Real Estate Investment Show

Real estate market to look out for:

Just got back from the morning session of the real estate event(been busy I have not posted this soon, but the lessons are fresh) "The Real Estate Investment Show (April 5 and 6, 2014)" here in Mississauga and here is what I learned from the event:

-Look out for the Generation Y

I guess this is a similar strategy in investing and market positioning when we tracked the movements of the baby boomers. What is interesting is that the market profile of our Gen Y is unique that we need to study them to be able to serve their requirements. This does not mean that the boomer is out as a market force, there are still a lot of potential there but do keep an eye on the Y.

What is interesting is that they are making a prediction of a market upsurge in 2016, a year we want to be prepared for. Let me look at my magic crystal ball.

Some sources of funds:

- Syndicated Mortgages and Private Lenders

If you have excess cash or would like to borrow some for investment, there are various ways to gain access to capital. Syndicated mortgages is one way were people pull their resources and invest it in a large project for a sizable profit margin that is not guaranteed but through recent years have performed really well, but you do have to do you due diligence before getting into the investment.

Private lenders are also there when traditional mortgages from a bank is not available. The rates are a lot higher but as they say in investing, it is not about the rates rather it is if the numbers work.

Always look out also for Joint Ventures. A lot of people want to invest but don't know how or does not have the time to do so. This is a great opportunity to partner with them and get some investing going. It is a win win partnership.

I guess we do have to crunch those numbers and see what works for our investing. Knowing your market or possible markets do help in making such decisions. Finding the funding is another key ingredient in making this venture a successful one.
